János Árvay was born in a small, picturesque Swabian village, Rátka, where every family had its smaller or larger vineyard area. He received his first 450 grapes as a wedding gift from his father-in-law. Over the years, the small gift parcel grew into a 17-hectare estate. His philosophy is that winemaking in the vineyard begins with healthy fruit. His wife, Kata, in charge of catering, his son Szabolcs, and his daughter Angelika try to make the most of every process and do their part (cellar, vineyard, marketing, trade).
