Lapis is a vineyard with very compact, clayey, rhyolite tuff soils. We have 3 ha of organically farmed vineyards here, most of which were planted in the early 1980s. This is a single vineyard wine made with a classic approach, able to show the uniqueness of the area and the character of Furmint.

The grapes were picked from mid-September. Only healthy, fully ripped bunches are used. After gentle pressing and settling, the must is racked into barrels for fermentation in the cellar. We used 30% new and 70% old 220-litre “Szerednyei” barrels. Fermentation is slow and spontaneous. Bottling took place in April, followed by at least a year of bottle ageing.
