Kéknyelű is an indigenous Hungarian grape variety that has survived only in the Badacsony wine region, where it is now almost exclusively found. In the past, it was commonly referred to as the wine of the aristocrats because its care is time and labour intensive. Another interesting feature of the variety is that it only has female flowers, so it needs a pollinating pair to bear fruit, resulting in low yields. Pale yellow colour, moderate alcohol. Citrusy, with a hint of honey, white peach, salt and vibrant acidity. Great ageing potential.
