Betsek is a 1st class vineyard in Mád, with rhyolite tuff soil and extremely thin yellow clay on the surface. Our plantation is over 70 years old, with vines planted in the 1950s. The wine is a blend of our parcels, as 70% of our vines are old Furmint clones and 30% of the vines are Hárslevelű. We usually harvest the grapes together and process and ferment the two varieties jointly in steel tanks. Aging occurs in 300 litre Zemplén oak barrels for up to four months prior to bottling in the spring.
