Szamorodni dry is made by processing botrytized and healthy grapes together. It is one of the flagship wines of Tokaj-Hegyalja, which is always important in the life of a winemaker. An elegant, well-structured, acid-based estate wine. The painstaking work is evident in its botrytis scent, reminiscent of green walnuts and the old cellars. The aromas on the nose of this full-bodied wine return on the palate. An excellent aperitif drink, but also ideal with roasts.
The bunches contained a significant amount of Furmint aszú berries (i.e. shrivelled, botrytised grapes) and they were not treated separately (as one would when making Aszú). After years of fermentation with high sugar content, it is traditionally matured in wooden barrels. It shows a unique, odourless, soaked aroma with fine acids. Pure, full-bodied, dry wine with an impressive body. Ageing: long months in oak barrels.
